What is a Time Capsule?
A time capsule is a
durable, water-tight container that holds items that represent what is
important to the people who bury it. On occasion when a new building is
constructed, a time capsule is
buried under the new building’s cornerstone and usually remains buried until
the new building, having grown old, is torn down, perhaps 50 to 100 years
later. Because the people who bury time
capsules place in them items that best reflect the life and times in which they
live, those who discover and open the capsule 50 to 100 years later have a
better sense of what life was like and what was important to those who buried
it.
