English 102 Looking Ahead In the coming weeks,
we will begin two assignments: FThe first assignment is writing a
college-level research paper. To begin this assignment, you will need to
select a subject you would like to learn more about. Choose carefully--you
will be intimately involved with learning more about and writing about this
subject for at least six weeks. Perhaps have two or three possibilities in
mind when we begin next week. To generate subjects, consider creating an “Interest
Inventory.” Here’s how: over the next
week, brainstorm a list of your interests (be sure to have some scratch paper
available); add to your list as you think of new interests. Once you decide on two or three, we can put
them in “The Hedge” to see what topics spill out. FThe second is an interview with a senior
citizen (the Living History Interview
assignment). For this assignment, you will need a person to interview, but a
person as senior to you as possible. (Try for someone 75 years old or older).
This person can be a family member or a friend, but better might be to
interview a stranger, one who gets little contact with others. |
