ANDREWS, MELINDA J -- This is Melinda Andrews.  This is her first year as a student in college.  She is going to major in Nursing.  She enjoys reading when she finds the time.  Her favorite author is Dean Koontz.  She has almost all his books that he has ever written.  She really doesn’t enjoy romance novels. She feels she could give more insites to being in a small group for she has very high opinions about many topics.  Melinda is a very caring person. She is respectful to others. She hopes to get more knowledge and improve her reading skills. By Leahan DeWolfe

BENGTSON, JAMIE L -- Jamie Bengston wants to major in psychology after she completes her basic requirements.  Her experience at Spokane Community College has been one that is different than that of her experience of high school.  She attends Church and plans to join the disability club here on campus.   She enjoys reading.  Her favorite book is Huckleberry Fin, and she could not stand To Kill a Mocking Bird.  Jamie also likes to work in small groups since she enjoys talking.  A special skill that she has that could enhance a group she is how she talks a lot.  Two adjectives that describe Jamie are determined and kind. By Kayla Schumacher

BORISYUK, OLEG P -- His name is Olag Borisyuk he is majoring in Liberal Arts.  His experience at SCC has been pretty easy so far, and he is a fulltime student.  He doesn’t participate in any extracurricular activities.  It depends what he is reading whether he thinks of it as pleasure or pain.  He doesn’t have a best literature experience, but his worst experience would have to be his 9th grade teacher.  Says it is o.k. working in groups, thinks you can get more done in groups.  Special skills would be that he is opened minded to other peoples opinions.  An adjective that would describe him is talkative, but towards friends.  He hopes to be able to write and read faster and better.   DEWOLFE, LEAHAN L -- Leahan DeWolfe is majoring in Nursing.  This fall is her first time back, since she has graduated in 1987.  So far Leahan is having fun; she likes her professors and is meeting lots of new people. Leahan has no time for extracurricular activities for she has five children to raise on top of all the studying, homework and working 20 hours a week.  Leahan enjoys reading, but has problems if the reading material doesn’t interest her and has a hard time reading it. Her favorite author is Anne Rice and doesn’t like western books. She like working in small groups; gives her more incite and a chance to meet her classmates. She thinks that maybe her experiences and incite may help others as well..  Leahan describes herself as funny and sincere.  She is hoping to learn how to read faster and improve her reading skills from this class.    DRAINE, JODY --  Hello: I would like to introduce you to Jody Draine.  Drain with an e. She is a liberal Arts student here at SCC.  Jody’s experience here at SCC has been tiring.  There are people going every way, very fast.  Jody’s time is limited between work and school she has no time for extra activities at this time.  Reading for Jody is a pleasure because it takes her away from here for just a little while.  I like to read for this reason, too. She feels because she hasn’t been in school long there is no best or worst literature experience.  Jody likes working in-groups.  She feels she learns more and there are more ideas to pick from.  Also it is easier to voice own experiences.  She is a leader and take charge person. She would be able to get their group going.  She Laughlin says she has a big mouth.  Adjectives that would describe Jody are she is out going, talkative, and competitive.  She competes with herself.  She gives herself goals and strives to reach and surpass them.  Jody would like to get information on how to retain information from this class. This is Jody Draine.  Thank you. by Roxanne Vignali

HELGESON, TAFFEE R -- I interviewed Taffee Helgeson and Kayla Schumacher.  Kayla wants to major in psychology and Taffee wants to broadcast Journalism.  Taffee says that transitioning from high school to college is harder.  Kayla thinks college is better then high school, Kayla participates in the drama club after school.  Taffee says, she likes reading a lot Kayla hates to read.  Taffee’s best literature experience has been the left behind “Series” and Kayla’s is “To kill a mocking bird”, but is also the hardest for her.  The crucible was the worst literature experience for Taffee.  Taffee says she likes working in small groups because it allows her to talk to people more and so does Kayla.  Two adjectives to describe.  Kayla would be determined and to describe Taffee outgoing and spunky.  What they both hope to gain from class is to read better. by  Jamie Bengtson

TRANG LE --  I did my interview on Trang Le. She is planning on majoring as a Medical Assistant. Her experience at SCC has been very good. Trang has made a lot of new friends, in the three years she’s been here. Outside of school Trang likes to run and walk but she only walks when she feels lazy. When she reads she does it for pleasure not torture. She reads because she loves to improve her skills in the English language and just better her self. She likes to work in small groups because she isn’t as shy and she can still learn many things from others ideas. Some special skills Trang has are typing, research and she is a people person she can keep the people around her on task but have fun at the same time. The two adjectives that best describe Trang are friendly and honest. She wants to by the end of the class; Read faster, remember what she read for a prolonged amount of time and to learn new words. by Kendal Reasor

TACKETT, RYAN  -- The person that I got a chance to interview was Ryan Tackett.  From listening to him he can be laughable and yet goal-oriented individual.  Couple of things I learned from Ryan, he enjoys making people laugh and conversing with other individuals.  He admits being enrolled here at Spokane Community College gives him that privilege of meeting new people and reach his goal.  Ryan and I were discussing of how important it is to get a degree in a specific field.  He did mention he wants to complete his associate degree and maybe considering of being a veterinarian.  But for now he is concentrating from class to class. By Jaime Fajardo
