My philosophy? Hmm. I guess if I had to sum up in one word my style of teaching, I would call it Rogerian. In other words, I believe in creating an atmosphere where communication can thrive. I establish an environment that is open to ideas and creativity; in this way, some of the barriers to communication are broken down, and the writing begins to emerge more fully. I also believe that an English Composition course is an exciting arena for discussions regarding current political, social and cultural issues to create interesting and relevant fodder for writing. "When I think of teaching English, I think of balance. It is the counterpoise of praise and criticism. In other words, teaching rocks." http://ol.scc.spokane.edu/tgribble/
