Summary of SourcesAmber SheetsMichel praises the astounding author Craig Lesley in his article. Lesley has written four prize books, anthologies, and written many short stories. Lesley's work has been noticed for its great Native American content and received many awards because of his brilliant writing. Lesley has been a college teacher and obtained a Doctorate from Whitman College (140 FF). *Why does Lesley write about Native Americans and their culture? Wanner's describes the first nonfiction book in 1989 about raising a baby with alcohol affects very similar to Craig Lesley's Storm Riders. Many Native American children suffer similar affects and require extra effort. Storm Riders start in the year 1977 and tells of a struggling parent, Clark, dealing with the heartbreaking Fetal alcohol baby he tries to raise. Because of a poor child experiences Clark takes in Wade. "FAS children have difficulty comprehending cause and effect," and Clark begins to realize the extent of Wade's problems when he beginning getting violent and cause problems with his new marriage. Consequently Wade ends up back in Alaska (Seattle Times). *Why isn't there a cure or something to help with these problems of FAS babies? *Why didn't Clark realize that Wade was a FAS baby and there is no known cure?
