The final stage of reading involves organizing and creating relationships about what you have read. If you want to remember what you read, post-reading is a must. Some strategies to use are
| information from your one sentence summaries of each paragraph;
| outline the material read;
| recite the main points of section;
| create a test of the most important points;
| create a semantic map;
| add unknown vocabulary to your vocabulary list;
| teach the information to a friend, child or spouse;
| find an authority to help if all else fails.
| All the steps of the reading process are necessary to become a successful reader. These may be difficult at first, but soon the rewards will be worth it. [Stage 1] [Stage 2] [Stage 3] |
