Welcome to some of the classes I teach here at Spokane Community College. I try to leave up a few of them here on the web, so that students will be able to explore what they will need to become successful writers if they decide to sign up for one of my classes.  Also, to ensure that students are in the right composition class, I have created placement tool.   I have listed below some traits of how I view  each level of composition we offer here at Spokane Community College..  Be aware that these are my opinions, yet I can guarantee they are based on my fifteen years of research and experience.

These are general guidelines for determining which course will be most helpful for a student.  In addition, a student does not have to show competency in each area listed to enter a class. Students may be at 99 level in some areas and 101 level in other areas.  When evaluating your own writing skills, think about what is easiest for you, then what is most difficult.  Look at the criterion listed below to help find which class best suits you.
