English 101 Portfolio Assessment Spring 2005 DescriptionA portfolio is a collection of your writing that provides an accurate window into your strengths and weaknesses as a writer. Twice during the quarter, your writing will be evaluated by English Department Faculty other than your instructor. Readers will be examining your ability to organize and develop ideas effectively as well as your competence in using Standard English and MLA documentation.
Grading
I. Your FINAL PORTFOLIO is due on during Week 9. To be considered complete, it will consist of the following work:
II. The portfolios will be read and scored by two separate English instructors. To pass the final portfolio, it must receive 16 points or above out of a possible 24. If you have a 2.0 in the class and you pass the portfolio, you have met the requirements of the class. However, please remember you must have a 2.5 or above to enter into English 201. If you receive 15 points or below and you do not have above a 2.0 in the class, you will be required to retake English 101 at a later date. However, if you receive 15 points or less and have over a 2.0 in the class, you must contact the instructor and the available options will be discussed with you. Your grade in English 101 will be recorded as a 1.9, which will be changed as soon as you do the necessary work to successfully pass the requirements of English 101.
