1. The title of a book usually gives the reader a clue about the contents of the book. Without reading the book, what does the title lead you to believe about the it. Jot down all of the ideas that come to mind when you think of the title.

2. Open up the book in four different sections. At random, read a paragraph or two from each section. What did these sentences tell you about the book?  Will it be hard to read?  Is the language accessible or will you need a dictonary by your side at all times?  Is this a serious or entertaining book?  Is the material suggestive?   What other things can you tell from just the few pages that you looked at?
