Although laptop PCs may be convenient, Rosch points out there are also disadvantages. Laptops may be able to do the work of desktops, but generally lack "security, expansion, and display technologies" (124).

When writing, one should listen to the tone and look at the organization of the paper - try different styles. There are a variety of ways to present arguments and win over the reader (Elbow 123).

Peter Elbow, the author of _Writing With Power: Techniques for Mastering the Writing Process_, wants his readers to become better writers by "trying diferent tones...trying different ways of organization...persuade and reasoning...hiding the weak arguments, trying to write it in half the length...and trying different formats" (123).

Borrowing ideas from Elbow (1981), writers should explore different tones: try chatty, authoritative, or ironic. Seek to devolope essays that persuade with anecdotal reasoning and are conceise. Writers need to experiment with different page formats that use lists, pictures or diagrams.

Information may be presented in a variety of ways. Becoming more aware of different tones, organizational styles, and formats are just a few ways that information may be presented. Furthermore, a writer must be able to persuade their reader with the ability to hide weak arguments and keep their audience's interest(Elbow 123).

In Arthur Fisher's essay "Chaos: The Ultimate Asymmetry." he points out that, "Students of chaos theory, which is grounded in mathematics, believe that their emerging discipline is revealing patterns of order deeply embedded in the chaos that seethes all around." (138-157).

S2

In his article "The Perfect System." reporter Winn L. Rosch asserts that portable PCs are somewhat of a double sword: presenting positives of capability and negatives with security and expansion. (124)

a.

Elbow exclaims that in writing you should try different tones. Use different ways of organizing your work, possibly even starting with a conclusion. Use the the power of persuasion with reasoining or anecdote. You can even try hiding weak arguments, or writing in half the length. He also stated to try out multiple formats. (123)

To master the writing process one needs to experiment with different tones and methods of organization; a good piece may include different formats such as lists, pictures, or diagrams (123).

For students of chaos theory, Emerging discipline reveals patterns of order deeply embedded in the chaos that seethes all around; chaos theory is grounded in mathematics (Fisher, Arthur 142).

S2

There are two opinions on the use of portable PCs; while on one side they can sometimes substitute as a desktop, on the other side, they disppoint the general business user in terms of security, expansion, and display technology (Rosch, Winn L.).

a.

Some techniques for mastering the writing process include using tones, changing the organization, persuading reasonably, logically presenting arguments, changing the length of the paper, or even by using different formats (Elbow, Peter).

Chaos is all around us yet we can obtain disciple within that chaos as demonstrated here in this quotation from "Chaos: The Ultimate Asymmetry" written by Arthur Fisher, and contained within _Best Science Writing: Readings and Insights,_ "Students of chaos theory... believe that their emerging disciple is revealing patterns of order deeply embedded in the chaos that seethes all around" (Fisher, 142).

Winn L. Rosch does a good job of getting the message across about portable computers. In the article titled, "The Perfect System," Rosch states that even though laptops are convenient and have what it takes in speed, they are not as upto date as the business consumer would like. The security and its display and even the expansion abilities are not up to snuff (Rosch, 124).

In _Writing With Power: Techniques for Mastering the Writing Process._ written by Peter Elbow, it says to change up the tone with which you write. Perhaps using ironic or chatty tones. Explore different oraginzations of the peice that is being written, and even different formats on the paper. Use reasoning for persuasion. Hide, yet still admit weak arguments (Elbow, 123).

In the aticle called "The Perfect System" by Winn L. Rosch, published in July 1993 in PC Magazine, it is his opinion that portable pc's are powerful and capable but disapoint the geral business user because of security, expansion, and display technology.
