Week 8-- The Gender Wars
M: MLA practice due by 6:00.

  • Begin Gender Research-- use the  gender chapter in your text to find a topic within issue that interests you.

  • Read  Gender handout about assignment
  • Find two articles on Proquest on gender and media or language.

  • HW: Finish reading AQWF
  • Review Model gender essay and teacher comments
  • Brainstorm gender and media-- do actual field research for gender and media essay i.e., surveys and interviews --- use  http://www.perseus.com/express/index.html to help with survey--create the survey in the program online.

  • Survey at least ten people with at least ten questions ...if you want me to, I will look at your questions before you ask them -- if you want to pair or team up with others, the better your results will be

  • Arrange to interview two different stakeholders (people who are affected or influenced by your topic)
  • Friday: Write a persuasive research paper discussing gender and media



Week 9  Gender continued

Submit Gender research paper to peer group by 6:00 Tuesday.

W &T: On Wednesday and Thursday read and comment upon your peer partner's essay. Exchange your draft with your partners to receive peer comments -- use this research edit sheet.
You must contribute a draft to your group to participate in this activity.
Return essay with your comments to author by Friday midnight.  
You must also send me a copy of your feedback, so that I can award you FB points.  I will only award FB points to those who submit FB by the appropriate time. 
If you do not receive an essay to read by Wed. evening, please contact me, so that I may find someone with whom you can exchange drafts.



Week 10 (11/21-22)



Week 11 (11/28-12/2)

  • You must submit  a reflection paper and one rewritten essay (see portfolio handout) to me to include in your portfolio by 6:00 p.m. Tuesday
  • You need to either drop off all of your journal entries in their binder, or submit all of them through email by Thurs.
