Latisha Marie Taylor
Laitsha, also known as Tish or Tisha, is my niece.
She is now in her junior year at Joel E. Ferris High School, and
is also a student in the Running Start Program. This program gives
students with exceptional grades the opportunity to attend college
while being enrolled in their high school courses and completing
those credits also.
Tisha isn’t one to ‘toot her own horn’, is an
exceptionally good drawer. This is one of her favorite past times;
as well as another being reading.
Although she doesn’t play an instrument, Tisha
does sing in the school choir at Ferris. With oceans between us
and finally meeting my niece, it wasn’t hard to recognize the
sincerity and authenticity of LaTisha’s character. Though she is
involved in extracurricular activities and enjoys the company of
her friends, she still likes to ‘steal away’ as often as she can
for ‘my time’; and what better way to spend it than doing what
interest you the most.
Tisha can produce beautiful and detailed drawings
in a very short time, or be caught up in the book she might be
reading for hours on end.
I asked LaTisha what quality about herself that
she possesses makes her a unique individual.
She took a deep breath and replied, “My
personality I guess, and my friendliness. I think I am very
friendly and I do have a really good personality.” With that being
said, I had one final question for LaTisha; “What are your
strengths and weaknesses, what makes you the person you are, I
asked?”
LaTisha promptly answered, “My honesty; my
strength is my honesty. Being shy puts me at a disadvantage
sometimes so that would be my weakness.” LaTisha said. Overall, I
think LaTisha Marie Taylor is an outstanding individual with
qualities about herself that anyone would love to naturally
possess as she does. By: Loretta Jones-Tensley 9-26-05

Ryan Tedrow is an intelligent young man at the ripe old age of
19. His intelligence is showcased in many areas of his life,
although intellectually speaking, computer technology is his first
love. It is with this compulsion towards computers that Ryan
intends to garner a network engineering degree so as to be able to
provide for his most prized treasure, his famil
His family consists of a vivacious 2 year old son Riley and a
pretty girlfriend named Jenifer. This youthful family has been
building a life here in Spokane for a couple of years now. And
unless Ryan’s passion for guitar playing renders him another
victim of ‘Rock-n-Roll Superstardom’, he looks forward to someday
working as a system administrator in either Portland, OR or
California someplace.
When asked how his friends would describe him, Ryan said “loyal,
friendship is nothing without loyalty”. When coaxed for his most
memorable life moment or experience, Ryan said completing bootcamp
after all those weeks of being told he would fail was very
instrumental in building his confidence. But the most memorable
life experience was bringing home Riley from the hospital. It was
then fatherhood became a wonderful reality.
So it is my hope that after reading these few paragraphs, you will
see what I have seen in my short acquaintance to him. That is
that Ryan will be a great asset to this English course online as
well as a great friend, one more life bonus from higher educaiton..

Dawn
Perkins is a Mother of 6 children aging from 17years to 3
years. After learning a little about Dawn, I came to the understanding
that she has a great love for her family and she would make any type of
sacrifice on their behalf. Dawn is a foster parent who has adopted two
of her six children from foster care. She is a stay at home mother who
has home schooled two of her children in the last eight years. Dawn
enjoys teaching her children and has decided to make it her new
profession. Her love for teaching is her motivation for coming back to
finish her degree. She hopes to finish at the Spokane Community College
in two years and transfer to Eastern Washington University Downtown
Campus. I find her bravery truly amazing, considering the obstacles she
faces of balancing a family life and school work. Dawn’s example of
putting her family first and sacrifice for those she cares for will have
a profound influence on her future students. Henry Brooks Adams gave
the following statement, “The great influencing factor in the classroom
is the teacher, his personality, what he thinks-not just what he says,
but what he is, really and truly, in his heart. This is what influences
his students.”(Favorite Quotations from the Collection of Thomas S.
Monson)
I
hope that Dawn Perkins has the opportunity to finish her degree and
accomplish her dream of become a school teacher. By Beau Chandler

Nicole’s major is Liberal Arts. Her first and only experience is
this class. So far she is having a good experience with it. She
uses the internet pretty often. She uses it for many things,
school, work and entertainment! Nicole is a full time mom with two
children, a daughter that is 3 and a 5 year old son. Her
extracurricular activities usually involve doing stuff with her
family. She always is involved in laboratory stuff such as
phlebotomy and histology.

even had some published. When she was in 5th grade she had her
first poem published in Skipping Stones. Her worst writing
experience was her sophomore year in high school writing a 5 page
history report.
Out of the many memorable historical events that stick out most to
Nicole is 9-11.
The last novel she read was Citizenship Now, said it was very
informative and interesting and had many different views on the
world today.
Nicole is going to school for her RN and IVP. She hopes to gain
enough credits to pass the class! Aren’t we all =) by Sara

Brad
Walling is a compassionate man with a strong faith in his beliefs. He is of the
age of 33 and is currently employed with the Department of Social and Health
Services located within Eastern State Hospital. The most memorable moment of
his life is the day he married the woman who saved him from himself. Between
the two of them they have three wonderful daughters and in June they were
blessed with the newest addition to the family: their granddaughter Tayler. His
family also sports quite the menagerie of animals with three dogs, two cats, and
a guinea pig.
Brad enrolled at SCC to start a new career and
begin his professional life anew. While he has not decided on a major, he has
been considering Business/Accounting. Not being terribly confident with his
computer skills Brad didn’t have much of a choice in enrolling in an online
course this year. Between enrolling late, taking care of his family, a full
time job and a weekend hobby of rocking out with his band Men in the Making he
did not have the luxury of attending a traditional classroom setting. by

Sara Rosenbaum is trying to get into the nursing program, for
her R.N. She wants to get it to pediatric nursing. She has taken
other on-line courses, but was unable to finish them due to a
death in her family. She found it difficult to fit her on-line
courses into her schedule, but did. She frequently uses the
Internet to stay in touch with news, family and friends. Writing
is both pleasure and pain, if she's journaling or writing a
letter, something she is familiar with it pleasurable. If it's
formatted its more trialling IE. reports or boring things. Her
most memorable historicle events are 9-11 and Hurricane Katrina.
She enjoys in her spare time camping, fishing, and visiting
her family. She likes volleyball, cross stitching and crocheting.
Shed say she is sincere and spontaneous, open and fun to be
around. The last novel she read and enjoyed was 4th of July, by
James Patterson, she loved it,"He's a great writer and can keep
the audiances attention." She also enjoys works by J.K. Rowling,
and the Harry Potter series of books. She hopes to become a better
writer. by Nicole Villegas

hopes that the frustration will have diminished with having online
classes.
Anthony likes to spend his spare time at the lake. He prefers Lake
Couer D' Alene,Id. He loves all kinds of water sports his
favorite is waterskiing. He has been waterskiing for most of his

David Cunnington
is a 25-year old bartender from Spokane, WA. He is going to school because
he is tired of bartending and wants to get into the nursing field. This is
not the first time David has taken an online course. He took English 101
online about four years ago, but did not apply himself to the tasks and says
he was not ready to be in school at that time. This time around he hopes to
improve on his grammar and also gain confidence in his writing skills.
Writing is not his favorite thing unless it is about a subject which he has
some interest or knowledge in. His best writing experience was the in-class
essay at the first meeting of the class. He said that he was able to relax
and just write what he felt unlike his normal writing experiences. He said
that his worst was any writing he had to do.
David doesn’t participate in any extra-curricular
activities, however in his spare time enjoys playing basketball, video
games, and lifting weights. David describes himself as laid-back because he
handles himself and situations very well and with ease. He is also confident
in his life. He is confident that everything will be taken care of and that
all is going to be well. David is a friendly guy and has a great outlook on
life. By Bethany Schaff

Remember to be nice to Bethany Schaff,
she might just save your life one day. Why? Because she going to be a nurse!
English 101 is her first online course, she is a little overwhelmed so far but
is interested in the outcome of the class. Bethany finds writing more of a
pleasure than a pain due to an instructor in high school that made writing a
good experience for her. She enjoys writing in honor of her late father, her
best writing experience is an in-class assignment about her father and what he
had done for Bethany in her lifetime.
When Bethany isn't working at Walmart and doesn't have her nose
crammed in a text book she enjoys hanging out with friends and talking to her
family on the telephone. Bethany describes herself as friendly, she loves people
and has a ton of friends. Another word Bethany describes herself as is strong,
she has had the misfortune of losing a parent and the event of this has
strengthened her mentally and emotionally. As for this class, Bethany wants to
achieve better writing skills and the knowledge of how to make her writing come
across to the reader in an easier way. Bethany seems like a nice girl and is
headed in the right direction at a young age. Prepared by David Cunnington
