Elbow suggests that a writer try and use different techniques when writing an essay. He points out that using diversity in writing is better than being regular. "Try different tones: chatty, authoritive, ironic," is an idea he uses. Peter also suggests that a writer be open with his reader and anounce "weak arguments". He also mentions that there is nothing wrong with putting in pictures or diagrams to enhance a writers idea. (123)
